Strong West Coast Fields Lined Up for Friday's Bill Dellinger InvitationalPublished by
Oregon to face Stanford, BYU, Washington at Dellinger By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor One of the strongest fields ever assembled for the annual Bill Dellinger Invitational is set for Friday morning at the Springfield Golf Club, east of Eugene, Ore. The reigning NCAA champion Oregon women -- ranked No. 6 by DyeStat -- will open their season with a 6,000-meter race against a field that includes No. 2 Stanford, No. 16 Washington, No. 19 BYU, Portland, Cal Poly, Oregon State, Gonzaga, Idaho and UC Santa Barbara. The matchup between Oregon and Pac-12 rivals Stanford and Washington is particularly intriguing because the Pac-12 Cross Country Championships will be held on the same Springfield Golf Club course next month. The Oregon men will play host to the same set of teams. BYU is ranked No. 5, Stanford is No. 6 and the Ducks are 11th. Portland and Washington both bring teams on the verge of cracking the top 20. The men's 8,000-meter race is set to go off at 10 a.m. and the women's race is slated to follow at 11 a.m. More news |
