Oregon Men, BYU Women Win Bill Dellinger Team Titles

Conner Mantz, Whittni Orton Make It An Individual BYU Sweep

The University of Oregon men put three in the first nine, including Foot Locker champ Cole Hocker making his collegiate debut, as the Ducks edged BYU and UCLA in a very close men's competition at the Bill Dellinger Invitational.

BYU's Conner Mantz, one of the leading threats to win the NCAA Division 1 title later this fall, won the 8-kilometer race at Springfield Country Club in 23:24.7. 

UCLA's Robert Brandt was two seconds back, followed by the Oregon duo of James West and Cooper Teare. Hocker finished ninth. 

Oregon also got strong finishes from transfer Noah Affolder (14th) and Jackson Mestler (24th) and scored 54 points. BYU was next with 60 and UCLA scored 62 for third. Boise State was a distant fourth, followed by Portland. 

In the women's race, BYU was dominant with Whittni Orton (19:25.8), Erica Birk (19:30.8) and Courtney Wayment (19:42.7) going 1-2-4 on the way to 35 points and an easy win. 

Boise State was second with 81 points, led by Clare O'Brien's eighth-place finish. Air Force was next with 107 points, followed by Oregon (143) and Oregon State (172).
