Dellinger Invitational Moved to Alton Baker Park Ducks to kickoff an exciting day of cross country on Pre’s Trail. EUGENE, Ore. – The site of the 2010 Bill Dellinger Invitational has been moved to Pre’s Trail in Eugene’s Alton Baker Park as the Oregon cross country teams will kickoff the Oregon Track Club’s annual fundraiser, the Pre’s Trail X-C Challenge. The date of the Dellinger meet remains the same, Oct. 16, with the first race beginning at 11:45 a.m. Proceeds from the OTC event support the maintenance of Pre’s Trail, which has undergone an extensive restoration effort during recent years and has become one of the nation’s premier running paths. “The Oregon Track Club has done some wonderful work in the restoration of Pre’s Trail,” said Oregon Associate Athletic Director Vin Lananna. “We’re very grateful to be the beneficiaries of OTC’s countless volunteers and their efforts in maintaining Pre’s Trail.” The women’s collegiate race will open the day at 11:45 a.m., followed by the men at 12:30 p.m. The women’s course will cover 6,000 meters with the men going 8,000 meters. The course winds around the Cuthbert Amphitheater just south of Autzen Stadium. The men’s race will feature three top-10 teams, with No. 6 Wisconsin and No. 9 Portland joining the third-ranked Ducks, along with Idaho, Portland State, Willamette and the University of Guelph from Ontario, Canada. The women’s race will have Idaho, Portland, Portland State, Willamette and Guelph meeting the No. 5 Ducks. The remainder of the Pre’s Trail X-C Challenge schedule has the high school boys’ five-kilometer at 2 p.m., the prep girls’ 5K race at 2:30 p.m., the 3,000-meter 17-and-under youth race at 3:15 p.m., the open 8-kilometer race at 3:45 p.m. and the master’s 5,000 meters at 4:35 p.m. More information on the Pre’s Trail X-C Challenge can be found on line at www.oregontrackclub.org (under the “Schedule” tab), or in person in the Eugene-Springfield area at the Eugene Running Company. The 2010 Dellinger Invitational was originally scheduled to be held at the Springfield Country Club, which will still host the NCAA West Regional Championships on Nov. 13.
